The City of Staunton Horticultural Department will work with a contractor to remove two ash trees in downtown Staunton starting Tuesday at 8:00 am.

The two trees are in Pocket Park near the intersection of South New Street and Mill Street in front of the Mill Street Grill.

Some parking spaces next to the park and along South New Street will be closed.

The trees to be removed are infested with emerald ash drills and are not recovering from the pest.

Work should start at 8 a.m. and be completed at 3 p.m.

The trees will be replaced in the spring.

Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly to ensure parking is available.
