Toadi: The AI Powered Lawn Mowing Robot
The normalization of the use of machines such as worker robots and automated mowing is not new in our modern world today. So far, some brands have taken huge strides in robotic mowing in the past few years. These are usually robots with a simple design and a GPS to help them move around the yard.
However, there is one company out there trying to revolutionize automated mowing and it looks like they are tackling the market differently. Toadi has developed a self-propelled robot lawn mower powered by AI.
Autonomous goes everywhere
Toadi is a self-propelled robot designed for lawn mowing. He uses a 4k camera to identify objects that might be on his path. It goes anywhere and drives around your garden autonomously. The AI functions are similar to those used in the automotive industry like Tesla these days. This is different from the other robotic lawnmower products.
Toadi uses lithium-ion batteries, which the company claims will retain more than 70% of their original capacity after six years of use. It also has four titanium coated blades and can work day or night, rain or shine. The whole body is also protected with a nano-coating. The company also said it used 81% sustainable materials in the manufacture of this robot.
This robot has a high-performance mower motor that can cut even the wildest grass to the perfect length. Toadi mows in straight lines and moves around obstacles instead of bouncing off them. It also has night vision, which makes it possible to secure your garden during the night.
It’s completely wireless and doesn’t require a cable to function. One of the best things about Toadi is that it will send you a picture of it on your phone when it sees something. That way, Toadi will let you know what is going on in your garden.
According to founder Wesley Lorrez, they plan to start production in October. Shipping is currently scheduled to begin in November. Lorrez added that Toadi had a purpose – to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world through worker robots. This robot is made using 3D printing and is designed to improve people’s lives by reducing pollution and planting and maintaining a garden.
The Toadi Lawn Robot has currently been available on Kickstarter since June. If you are interested in this product you can check out the campaign and support this project.
