The Stratford community came together Thursday to support two 10-year-old cousins who are working hard to start their own lawn mowing business.

It came as a surprise to the two young entrepreneurs when Home Depot donated them a lawn mower and they immediately jumped in to go to work.

The effort came after Darius Concepcion and his cousin set up a water level for the Stratford community to drop by and grab a flavored drink.

The 10 year old wanted to make some money and start a business, and their hard work was noticed in the city. Neighbors, friends and even police officers supported them.

When three family friends heard that Concepcion had plans to save his money and buy a lawnmower over the winter, the crew got together to see how much it would cost to surprise the two with their own machine.

Soon after, the Home Depot in Stratford wanted the surprise and packed a handpicked lawnmower.

“Yeah, probably in my head, I’m just so excited that I can’t, I can’t speak. I can’t,” Concepcion said with a smile.

Both boys have birthdays just a day apart next week so the lawnmower was an early gift for both of them. You will be out on Thursday and Friday.
