Russiaville man dies in tree trimming incident | News
A Russiaville man was killed Thursday afternoon after police alleged he was involved in cutting a tree on the northwest side of the county.
Police were sent to a residence near the intersection of Indiana 22 and County Road 600 West in relation to a welfare check, according to a media release from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
The first scanner traffic on Thursday indicated that a resident noticed a man standing in a bucket attached to a truck near the property and a resident named 911 after realizing he was no longer in the bucket was standing.
When MPs arrived on site, they found William C. Lidy, 65, who was unconscious, unresponsive and floating about 40 feet in the air.
Lidy was pronounced dead at the crime scene on Thursday at around 4:50 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for this weekend at Community Howard Regional Health, under the direction of the Howard County Coroner.
This case is still being investigated.
