Four homes in SLO evacuated after tree trimming ignites fire

BY JOSH FRIEDMAN

Felling trees in San Luis Obispo crashed power lines and started a fire, resulting in the evacuation of four homes on Thursday afternoon.

At around 1:35 p.m., a resident was cutting a branch from a tree behind a house on Pinecove Drive from 1827 when the branch fell on a power line and started the fire. The burning vegetation between the houses in Pinecove and Lima is driving south of Madonna Road, according to the San Luis Obispo Fire Department.

Firefighters came and quickly put out the fire. Although four houses were evacuated, no injuries were sustained and no house damage occurred.

There was a brief power outage in the area.
