Bay City tree service cleaning up after Wednesday’s storm | News

Bay City men throw away the remains of this collapsed oak tree in Bay City.

Wednesday night’s thunderstorm cracked the branches of the tree through the roof and awning of a house on Trumbull Avenue and 6th Street.

“This is pretty bad, I’ve seen bad, but that wind was pretty destructive,” said Andrew Bassett, owner of Bassett Tree Service.

Bassett Tree Service is a Bay City company that has operated for 36 years.

He says the damage done to this house is some of the worst he has seen yet, but explains that they have a lot more to try to get into town.

“This site went down that we already cleaned up, but it went through the neighbor’s house and did quite a bit of damage,” Bassett said.

Lots of damage indeed, including power lines and loose branches scattered all over the place, piling the Bassett and his crew in their trucks.

Workers who have been out here all day and whose work is far from finished.

“We’ll be here all day, it’s going to take a lot of rappelling and maneuvering to get this out, it’s pretty good in there,” he said.
